"Kirksville, Mo. —
A medical emergency left a Kirksville man’s min-van parked in the front of a local tractor store with the driver transported to Columbia in critical condition.
Regis Wehner, 87, was traveling southbound near 1400 N. Baltimore St. when he suffered from a medical condition and ran off the roadway, ending up in the front of the Sydenstricker tractor store about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to the Kirksville police report, Wehner’s 2007 Chrysler mini-van was towed from the scene. Damage estimates were not available for either the vehicle or the business, as of Monday morning.
Sydenstricker Sales Manager Bill Frazee said at least five mowers were total losses and the building sustained significant damage to its store front.
Frazee said thankfully that the business was not open that Sunday afternoon and there was no one inside the building when Wehner lost control.
Wehner was transported from the scene to the Northeast Regional Medical Center where he was stabilized and transported to University Hospital in Columbia.
As of Monday morning, Wehner was listed in critical condition at University Hospital.
No citations were issued at the scene, according to police."
