Bayonne Police have identified the 20-year-old Jersey City woman who died in a fatal two-car accident this morning that also seriously injured three other people.
The woman, Tynesia Brown, of Rutgers Avenue in Jersey City, was the passenger in a Pontiac Grand Am that police say made an illegal U-turn on Rt. 440 at the intersection with Pulaski Street near the border of Jersey City and Bayonne at around 10:40 a.m.
Brown was declared dead at the scene.
Deputy Police Chief Ralph Scianni said that the roads that had been closed after the accident were reopened as of 3 p.m. The victim's mother and father have been notified of their daughter's death, police said. Brown would have turned 21 in November, police said.
Three other people have been taken to Jersey City Medical Center trauma center and are being treated for possible internal injuries, police said.
Bayonne Police, who arrived on the scene at 10:41 a.m., said a Toyota Camry was heading southbound on Rt. 440, when the motorist of the Pontiac Grand Am committed an "illegal U-turn onto the southbound lane of Rt. 440," causing the collision.
Firefighters worked along with McCabe Ambulance Service to tend to victims, who were reportedly transported by ambulance to Jersey City Medical Center for further medical attention.
Fire Department members also worked to clean up leaking vehicle fluids."
