"A Polk County school bus carrying students was involved in a
crash this afternoon in Bartow, injuring nine students and two adults,
Polk County Fire Rescue said.
According to a report, the bus and a 2012 Chevy Sonic crashed at Highway 60 and Old Connersville Road. Fire Rescue received the call at 4:23 p.m.
The school bus attendant was taken to Bartow Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Nine students and the school bus driver were also transported to BRMC by school bus.
Two injured students were released to their parents, and 19 uninjured students were taken home by bus.
The Bartow Middle School students were on their way home to the Connersville/Alturas area, the report said.
The driver of the 2012 Chevy Sonic had minor scrapes and bruises and refused treatment, the report said.
