Colorado Springs Fire Department's hazardous materials team.
According to the fire department, the crash involving a semi-tractor
trailer and a car happened about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and fuel spilled
onto the road. Two passengers from the car were taken to the hospital
and treated for a broken arm and a non-life threatening head injury,
respectively, according to Sand Creek Police dispatch.
One patient was extricated from a vehicle, according to the fire department. An initial call for a second ambulance was cancelled, according to emergency radio traffic.
The truck was on its side, with debris spilling across the roadway from the crumpled top. The car's left side was smashed and doors ripped off.
The crash shut down the east and west lanes of Fountain between Academy and Murray boulevards at the time."
