"One person was taken to Meritus Medical Center after a single-vehicle accident on Sterling Road shortly after noon, according to Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy James Clay.

A Buick Lucerne left the roadway and struck a tree before crossing a driveway at 17103 Sterling Road and coming to rest against another tree, Clay said.

There was severe front-end damage to the car.

Clay said the driver, whose name and age was unavailable, was unresponsive. A dog in the vehicle was unharmed, he said.

Sterling Road was closed from Bower Avenue to Downsville Pike while the accident scene was cleared."
