Location: Westport, Connecticut
Vehicle(s) Involved: Jaguar X-Type

"One person sustained moderate to serious injuries after crashing into a tree on the Merritt Parkway Saturday night, fire officials said.
The driver, who was not identified Sunday morning, was traveling in a 2003 Jaguar northbound on the Merritt Parkway when the car barreled into a tree on the right side of the roadway, Assistant Fire Chief William Dingee said.
The accident occurred just north of the North Avenue overpass between exits 42 and 44 around 8:30 p.m.
The car was severely damaged and the driver's side airbag had been deployed, Dingee said.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the driver still inside the vehicle, Dingee said.
The driver was pulled from the wreckage and transported by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital, Dingee said. A portion of the roadway was closed as crews worked to clean up the scene.
The Fairfield Fire Department and state police assisted local firefighters in the rescue effort and with putting out a vehicle fire that had ignited after the crash.
State police are handling the investigation."
