"Police are investigating a one-car crash that occurred on East Street on Monday that sent four to the hospital — one with life-threatening injuries.
At 6:46 a.m., officers responded to 195 East Street,
where police believe a 2006 Toyota Corolla was traveling north on East
Street, failed to stay in the road, and struck a tree head on.
The vehicle had a driver, a front seat passenger, and two rear seat passengers. Only the driver was wearing a seat belt.
Upon impact, the two rear seat passengers were thrown into the front seat. No one was ejected from the vehicle. The driver’s side airbag deployed.
Four ambulances responded. Three victims were transported to South Shore Hospital and one transported to Boston Medical Center.
Officers were still there four hours later, and had closed off East Street at the Route 3A and Kilby Street intersection.
Officers are still identifying the passengers. The crash is being investigated by crash reconstructionists from the Hingham Police Department.
No names, ages, or home towns have been released yet pending identification and notification of relatives"
