Ambulance crash injures eleven.

"HURRICANE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A Hildale/Colorado City Ambulance crashed into a Dodge Caravan and injured eleven on Saturday night.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, the ambulance was transporting a stroke victim, Ben Barlow, to Dixie Regional Hospital. EMT Lizzie Barlow of Colorado City was driving, and the patient's wife Martha Barlow was also in the ambulance, along with other EMTs and paramedics.

Officials say the minivan, driven by Christian Affolter of Switzerland, was traveling through the intersection of State Road 9 on a green light and began to turn left when the ambulance entered the intersection and t-boned the minivan.

Of the three passengers in the minivan, 8-year-old Serena Affolter sustained the majority of the impact and suffered extremely critical injuries. The other passengers, Daniela Affolter and 12-year-old Nicola Affolter, also suffered serious injuries. Serena was life flighted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

The passengers in the ambulance also sustained injuries, including a dislocated shoulder, officials say.

Ambulance driver Lizzie Barlow was issued a citation for traffic control signal violation."
