"(Manzanita, Oregon) - Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into the cause of a Saturday night single vehicle serious injury traffic crash that occurred in Nehalem Bay State Park in Tillamook County.

According to OSP Sergeant Greg Plummer, on April 23, 2011 at 9:03 p.m. a trooper and area emergency personnel responded to a reported single vehicle serious injury crash in Nehalem Bay State Park. Preliminary investigation indicates a 2002 Ford Focus driven by Yvonne Elissa Perrone, age 29, from Nehalem, crossed the centerline on the roadway, lost control and slid sideways into a tree.

Perrone sustained serious injuries and was initially transported from the scene by Manzanita Ambulance to a location on Highway 26. She was transferred to a LifeFlight helicopter and taken to Oregon Health & Sciences University hospital.

Perrone was wearing safety restraints.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Manzanita Ambulance, Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, Manzanita Police Department and Nehalem Bay Fire & Rescue."

2 seriously hurt in Greenwood motorcycle crash.

"SEATTLE -- Two people were seriously injured when a motorcycle collided with a car in North Seattle on Monday evening.

Police spokesman Mark Jamieson said the motorcycle carrying two people was traveling rather fast down Greenwood Avenue when it struck a car turning left onto 102nd around 8:48 p.m.

Both occupants of the motorcycle were thrown from the bike and sustained life-threatening injuries. Their names and conditions have not been released.

The cause of the crash has not been determined.

Greenwood Avenue was shut down from 101st to 103rd for several hours following the accident during the investigation."

Head-on collision kills one.

"A Spokane woman who turned 21 earlier this month was killed Friday morning in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 195 at Rosalia.
Stephanie Calvert’s compact Ford Focus was crushed when it collided at 7:25 a.m. with a Chevrolet Tahoe sport utility vehicle driven by Shelley R. Solberg, 52, of Colbert.
Calvert died at the scene, 35 miles south of Spokane. Solberg and two 14-year-old boys in her vehicle were taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane with injuries that police said appeared to include broken bones and cuts.
Solberg was in satisfactory condition Friday afternoon, but the boys — including her son and a friend of his — were in serious condition in the pediatric intensive-care unit.
The Washington State Patrol did not identify the boys because they are minors.
Trooper Bruce Blood said Calvert was northbound when her car drifted into the southbound lane, almost to the fog line.
The southbound Solberg attempted to avoid the collision by steering toward the northbound lane, but Calvert made a sharp correction and the vehicles collided in the southbound lane, near the center of the road, Blood said.
He said both vehicles had been going about 60 mph, which is the speed limit, although a witness in a car behind Solberg’s said Solberg was braking when the vehicles hit almost squarely head-on.
There was no immediate indication that alcohol was involved, Blood said.
“It could have been a momentary lapse, and she just drifted over,” he said."

HP: 87-year-old had heart attack just before double-fatal wreck.

"GILBERT, SC (WIS) - An elderly man had a heart attack causing him to run through a stop sign Wednesday afternoon and cause a three-vehicle accident that took the lives of two people, including himself, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident happened a little after 2 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 378 and Shore Road near Lake Murray. Highway 378 was closed for about 2 hours while crews investigated the accident and cleared the scene.
The Highway Patrol said the 87-year-old driver of a 2009 Ford Focus, identified by the Lexington County Coroner's office as (censored), failed to stop at the stop sign on Shore Road at 378 and crashed into a pickup truck. The collision forced the pickup into the eastbound lanes of 378 where it was hit by a Ford Mustang.
According to the Highway Patrol, three people were taken to the hospital. The 62-year-old  driver of the pickup, (censored)., was airlifted with serious injuries, and later pronounced dead at the hospital. Butzich was taken to Lexington Medical Center by ambulance and later pronounced dead.
"I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of Ed's death," said Pastor Jeff Kersey of Hartung.  
He said Hartung was a quiet, humble leader at Mount Horeb United Methodist Church in Lexington. Hartung was active with the church's ramp ministry.
 Ed and his team regularly built ramps for the elderly and the handicapped in the community.
"Just yesterday morning Ed was out constructing a ramp for one of our elderly members," said Kersey.  "Even on the day he died he was out serving."
"Why did someone like Ed have to die this way?" asked Kersey.  "We don't know the answer until we step into eternity ourselves. We should be asking what can God do with this how will he use his life to make a difference in our world."
The driver of the Mustang was also taken to Lexington Medical Center by ambulance. She was treated for minor injuries and released.
The accident is being investigated by the Highway Patrol."
