"No one was seriously injured Wednesday morning when a vehicle slammed into a fast food restaurant in southeast Atlanta.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, four vehicles — a Lincoln Navigator, a Ford Expedition, a pickup truck and an Audi — were involved in a wreck about 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Moreland and East Confederate avenues, and the Navigator came to a stop inside the nearby Zesto restaurant.
GSP Senior Trooper Larry Schnall said that the driver of the Expedition was southbound on Moreland Avenue when she lost control, striking several other vehicles and setting off a chain reaction crash.
The Navigator “traveled airborne into the building, causing significant damage to the establishment,” Schnall said. “Fortunately, no one was inside.”
The restaurant was scheduled to open at 10 a.m., according to the Zesto’s website.
Schnall said three of the four drivers were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were believed to be minor. He said investigators had not yet determined what caused the Expedition driver to lose control of her vehicle.
“Myself and my partner were across the street and partially witnessed this accident,” Schnall told the AJC. “We saw the Navigator go airborne into the building, and my first reaction was, wow, if this place was open for business, someone very well could have been seriously injured or multiple fatalities.”"

One injured in Manchester Township crash.

"On 01.12.2012 at 0718 hours the Northern York County Regional Police Department responded to a three vehicle crash on Board Road at May Drive in Manchester Township.
Investigation found that 1999 Jeep Cherokee was being operated eastbound on May Drive by Justin Conlen age 26 of Mount Wolf.  The Conlen vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto northbound Board Road and pulled into the path of a southbound 2000 Freightliner tractor trailer being operated by Christopher Clagget age 30 of York.  This impact forced the Conlen vehicle to strike a northbound Ford minivan being operated by Kevin Cartier age 35 of Edgewater Park, MD.
Conlen had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Manchester Township Department of Fire Services.  He was flown to York Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Claggett and Cartier were uninjured."

"On 02.22.2011 at 1142 hours the Northern York County Regional Police responded to a two vehicle crash on SR30 near North George Street.
Investigation found that a 2005 Ford SUV and a 2003 Dodge SUV were both travelling westbound on SR30.  The  Ford SUV struck the Dodge SUV from behind.
The Ford SUV was operated by John D. Filipelli, age 45 of York.   Filipelli was uninjured.
The Dodge SUV was operated by Holly E. Smith, age 40 of York.  Smith and two juvenile passengers (ages 16 and 5) were not injured."

One injured in Manchester Township crash.

"On 05.16.2011 at 1754 hours the Northern York County Regional Police responded to a two vehicle crash on the Susquehanna Trail at Locust Lane in Manchester Township.
Investigation found that a 2004 Honda minivan was travelling westbound on Locust Lane.  The van stopped for the posted stop sign and then pulled into the path of a 2003 Ford coupe that was travelling northbound on the Susquehanna Trail.
The Honda was operated by Bradley Burdette age 45 of Manchester Township.  The Ford was operated by Jennifer Mullins age 19 of Manchester.
Burdette and his four passengers were not injured.  Mullins suffered minor injuries.

Two injured in Box Elder crash.

"SNOWVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A man and two boys were sent to area hospitals Monday following a rollover on Interstate 84.

Utah Highway Patrol said when entering a curve, the driver of a Ford F150 drifted off the roadway to the left into the median. The driver, 26-year-old Jason L. Smith, of West Valley City, overcorrected back to the right across the road and off to the right side.

The vehicle went down an embankment and rolled 3 times coming to a rest on its wheels facing east. All three people in the car were wearing seat belts.

Smith had a large cut on his head, A 10-year-old boy suffered a hand injury and an 11-year-old boy was uninjured. Smith was transported by ambulance to an Ogden hospital and the two boys were taken by ambulance to Bear River Valley Hospital.

UHP says this crash is proof yet again that seat belts save lives."

Man suffers 'severe' injuries in Nicholasville wreck on US 27.

"The driver of a Honda CRV was transported to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center with what police called “severe injuries” after his vehicle collided with a white truck on U.S. 27 in Nicholasville on Friday morning. The man’s name has not been released.

The CRV was traveling south on U.S. 27 between Howard and Elizabeth streets around 7:50 a.m. when it crossed into northbound lanes and struck a white Ford work truck, according to Nicholasville police Sgt. Jason Porch.
The vehicles came to rest about 80 yards apart.
“One of the witnesses who was sitting beside one of the two cars said, ‘Out of the blue, I just saw the impact. I can’t believe what I just saw,’” Nicholasville police officer Kevin Grimes said. “And, really, look at the debris field. You figure 55 or 60 mph came together and it was 120 mph.”
Grimes said it was unclear why the CRV crossed into the northbound lanes.
“We don’t know why, but it came into (the northbound lane) of traffic, and you see the point of impact,” Grimes said. “The injuries (for the CRV driver) do seem to be pretty severe. The other guy was standing around talking.
“The latest from (The University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center) was the (CRV driver) was still conscious upon arrival at the hospital’s emergency room, and that’s all we know at this point.”
The driver of the truck was not injured; Nicholasville firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extract the driver of the CRV from his vehicle before Jessamine County EMS transported him to the hospital.
Northbound and southbound traffic was rerouted around Howard and Elizabeth streets while emergency crews worked the scene.
The NPD’s accident-reconstruction unit is on the scene investigating, and as of 9:30 a.m., officials expected that stretch of U.S. 27 to remain closed for several more hours.
It’s going to be a while, and it could possibly take more than three hours,” Porch said."

" MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- A Montgomery Police officer was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries after his unmarked car flipped in a traffic accident this morning at the intersection near the Montgomery Police Station.
The accident occurred at the intersection of North Ripley Street and Columbus Street around 10:45 a.m.
Update: The officer is being released from the hospital this afternoon, Montgomery Police Lt. Regina Duckett said. His name isn't being released.
Duckett said the crash involved an MPD unit and a van. The occupants of the van received minor injuries when it overturned.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Details of what happened will not be released until the crash report is completed."

Woman survives horrific crash in Danville.

"A Danville woman narrowly escaped serious injury Tuesday afternoon when a tractor-trailer rig loaded with toilet paper and paper towels overturned on top of her SUV as she was preparing to stop for a red light at the intersection of the Danville bypass and Lebanon Road.

“I can’t believe my head is not crushed,” Wendy Howard, 39, said at the scene as she looked at her GMC Envoy with the front of its cab caved in by the trailer, which was carrying a payload of about 45,000 pounds.

The crash occurred about 3 p.m., when the big rig, driven by Adolfo Penny of Clinton, Md., was southbound on the bypass and ran through the red light at Lebanon Road, witnesses told Danville police.

The big truck, owned by Crete Carrier Corp., collided with a Chevy pickup truck driven by Clifton Grubbs Jr. of Danville, who was traveling east through the intersection on Lebanon Road, and then careened into the northbound lanes. The tractor-trailer sideswiped a Ford pickup truck driven by Sabe Ruggles, 18, of Danville before the weight of the load shifted, causing the trailer to overturn on top of Howard’s vehicle, police said.

Grubbs was transported from the scene by ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of possible back and neck injuries, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The cab of the big truck ran through a guardrail on the right side of the northbound lanes before turning over on its side, leaving the trailer sprawled across three lanes of traffic. The intersection was finally cleared about 11 p.m., eight hours after the crash occurred, police said.

Because the trailer was damaged in the crash, it had to be partially unloaded before it could be brought upright, Danville Police Chief Tony Gray said.

The paper products, which had just been picked up at Wausau in Harrodsburg, were off-loaded onto pallets by hand and then reloaded on to another trailer using a forklift, Danville police Capt. James Monroe said.

Roberts Towing of Lexington brought two oversized wreckers to the scene in order to winch the big rig back on its wheels, Gray said. A tanker truck also was deployed to drain the diesel fuel from the overturned truck before it was set right, Monroe said.

Howard said she had been running errands and was on her way to pick up her daughter at Woodlawn Elementary School when the big truck flashed across her path as she was easing up to the stop light.

“It all happened so fast. The trailer just came in on me,” she said.

The top of the trailer smashed in the cab of Howard’s SUV, but she sustained no injuries and was able to unbuckle her seat belt and climb out through a back door, she said.

Several people at the scene speculated what might have happened to Howard if she had traveled another foot or two before the trailer toppled over on to her vehicle.

“It’s one of those things where you just go ‘Wow!’” said Danville Fire Chief Woody Ball. “Her guardian angel was flying with her, I suppose.”"

"DAYTON —Capt. Barry Cron has been released from Miami Valley Hospital, a day after he was hit by a vehicle on U.S. 35.

Cron was admitted to the hospital after the Tuesday morning crash and he had been in serious condition.
Officials said the captain was speaking to a victim involved in a multiple vehicle crash on U.S. 35 when another vehicle lost control and slammed into the pileup. Police video shows Cron being thrown from the impact several feet from where he was standing.
Cron has been with the Dayton Fire Department since 1992 and was promoted to captain in November 2012, officials said. He works out of Station 13.
The crash, which occurred on U.S. 35 east near Gettysburg Avenue just before 5:30 a.m., created a pileup that involved 12 vehicles.
Another crash on U.S. 35 east near Abbey Avenue involved three vehicles. U.S. 35 was closed in both directions between Abbey Avenue and Liscum Drive while crews responded to the crashes and treated roads that had been made slick because of light snow overnight and snow melt that had frozen."

"A five-car accident ensued during this morning's commute at the intersection of Linden Avenue and Ocean Avenue in Jersey City, according to Jersey City Fire Director Armando Roman.
Immediate details were not available according to Roman, who said the accident occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m. Thursday morning.
According to witnesses, an elderly women lost control of her white Chevy Impala and crashed into multiple parked cars after clipping a moving black Ford Expedition while trying to turn onto Ocean Avenue from Linden Avenue, leaving multiple passengers entrapped in their cars for several minutes.
The driver of the Impala was taken to the hospital.

"(Manzanita, Oregon) - Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into the cause of a Saturday night single vehicle serious injury traffic crash that occurred in Nehalem Bay State Park in Tillamook County.

According to OSP Sergeant Greg Plummer, on April 23, 2011 at 9:03 p.m. a trooper and area emergency personnel responded to a reported single vehicle serious injury crash in Nehalem Bay State Park. Preliminary investigation indicates a 2002 Ford Focus driven by Yvonne Elissa Perrone, age 29, from Nehalem, crossed the centerline on the roadway, lost control and slid sideways into a tree.

Perrone sustained serious injuries and was initially transported from the scene by Manzanita Ambulance to a location on Highway 26. She was transferred to a LifeFlight helicopter and taken to Oregon Health & Sciences University hospital.

Perrone was wearing safety restraints.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Manzanita Ambulance, Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, Manzanita Police Department and Nehalem Bay Fire & Rescue."

Teen dies after collision with pickup in Kennewick.

"Kennewick — A teenage motorcyclist who reportedly missed a stop sign has died after slamming into a pickup truck about 4:15 p.m. today at the intersection of 45th Avenue and Olympia Street in Kennewick.

Witnesses reported the motorcyclist was heading west on 45th and doing wheelies, according to Kennewick police Sgt. Mike Genack.

The 17-year-old Kennewick boy drove around another car stopped at the stop sign at 45th and then into a late-model Ford pickup truck driving north on Olympia, Genack said.

Witnesses performed CPR until Kennewick paramedics arrived. The teen died at Kennewick General Hospital.

The driver of the pickup lives near the intersection and was on his way home after day of fishing. He was towing a drift boat.

The intersection is still closed for the investigation. The names of the drivers have not been released."

"At just after 4:00am, South Australian Police allege that a vehicle was seen travelling at high speed along Hanson Road, Mansfield Park.

The driver and five passengers, in a Nissan Tiida sedan, were pursued along Torrens Road for a short distance until they collided with a delivery van on the intersection of Torrens and South Road in Ridleyton.
The four males and two females in the Tiida suffered serious head and limb injuries, and were transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The male driver of the delivery van was also taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital for observation.
Police and Major Crash Investigators closed South Road shortly after 4:00am, with normal traffic flows hoped to be reintroduced at around 9:00am this morning."

"SEATTLE -- Two people were seriously injured when a motorcycle collided with a car in North Seattle on Monday evening.

Police spokesman Mark Jamieson said the motorcycle carrying two people was traveling rather fast down Greenwood Avenue when it struck a car turning left onto 102nd around 8:48 p.m.

Both occupants of the motorcycle were thrown from the bike and sustained life-threatening injuries. Their names and conditions have not been released.

The cause of the crash has not been determined.

Greenwood Avenue was shut down from 101st to 103rd for several hours following the accident during the investigation."

Indiana Toll Road worker, driver killed in I-90 crash in LaPorte County.

"Two people were killed, including an Indiana Toll Road maintenance worker, after a crash this morning on I-90 in LaPorte County, Ind., officials said.

In addition to the fatal injuries, another toll road worker was injured in the crash that happened at about 11:30 a.m. at mile marker 39.8 just east of the Michigan City exit, according to Indiana State Police officials.

Police dispatchers had received a call about a speeding, erratic driver traveling west on the roadway and was in the process of dispatching the information to police when the same vehicle, a red 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, struck the rear of a maintenance pickup truck, officials said.
The pickup truck was parked on the inner shoulder of the westbound lanes with its lights and a lit arrow board activated on the truck, police said. There was a sign behind the pickup warning drivers of workers up ahead, police said.
Daniel J. Miller, 52, of LaPorte who had just been a passenger in the truck, had stepped out and walked behind the truck to retrieve trimming equipment from the truck bed when the Hyundai struck him and the rear of the pickup, according to police.
Miller was pronounced dead by the LaPorte County Coroner. He had worked for the toll road for 17 years, officials said.
Paul A. Kimbrugh, 78 of Coldwater, Mich. and Cape Coral, Fla. who was the driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead after being airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
The second maintenance worker who was in the pickup was taken to Saint Anthony's Hospital in Michigan City with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The westbound lanes of the toll road were closed for about two hours."

Woman Rushed to Hospital after Cab in Crash Spins onto Sidewalk.

"YORKVILLE — A 28-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital with head trauma after being struck by a taxi that spun onto the sidewalk at the southeast corner of Second Avenue and East 79th Street Monday night, police and witnesses said.
The SUV taxi that hit the woman had first been involved in a crash with a Crown Victoria cab before spinning out of control, witnesses said.
The unidentified woman was taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, FDNY officials said. She was stable early Tuesday, an NYPD spokesman said.
Delti Braha, 29, doorman at the Continental Palace, near the intersection, ran outside to help the woman just after hearing the loud boom about 7 p.m.
"She was face down, bleeding," said Braha, who was told by others on the block that she had been standing on the street when the cabs got into the accident.
"[The SUV] slammed into her and she was on the floor," he said. "It's sad."
An NYPD spokesman said there was no criminality was suspected "at this time," and that both drivers remained at the scene.
How the accident occurred was not immediately clear.
Police officers at the intersection said the SUV cab was making a left turn from Second Avenue onto East 79th Street.  One witness said she screamed when she saw the Crown Vic because it was speeding eastward on East 79th Street just before the incident happened.
But the driver of the Crown Vic, who declined to give his name, claimed that the other cab passed a red light while going south on Second Avenue.
"He was running the red light, so he hit the [pedestrian]," the Crown Vic driver, who appeared unharmed, claimed. "I'm really sorry for her friends, for her family, her children, whatever she has. It is stupid. All for $5. …I'm very sad for her. Honest, it's crazy."
Braha said it was not uncommon for cars to go fast at that intersection.
"Everybody speeds up," he said. "They're trying to catch the lights.""
