"SNOWVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A man and two boys were sent to area hospitals Monday following a rollover on Interstate 84.

Utah Highway Patrol said when entering a curve, the driver of a Ford F150 drifted off the roadway to the left into the median. The driver, 26-year-old Jason L. Smith, of West Valley City, overcorrected back to the right across the road and off to the right side.

The vehicle went down an embankment and rolled 3 times coming to a rest on its wheels facing east. All three people in the car were wearing seat belts.

Smith had a large cut on his head, A 10-year-old boy suffered a hand injury and an 11-year-old boy was uninjured. Smith was transported by ambulance to an Ogden hospital and the two boys were taken by ambulance to Bear River Valley Hospital.

UHP says this crash is proof yet again that seat belts save lives."

Woman survives horrific crash in Danville.

"A Danville woman narrowly escaped serious injury Tuesday afternoon when a tractor-trailer rig loaded with toilet paper and paper towels overturned on top of her SUV as she was preparing to stop for a red light at the intersection of the Danville bypass and Lebanon Road.

“I can’t believe my head is not crushed,” Wendy Howard, 39, said at the scene as she looked at her GMC Envoy with the front of its cab caved in by the trailer, which was carrying a payload of about 45,000 pounds.

The crash occurred about 3 p.m., when the big rig, driven by Adolfo Penny of Clinton, Md., was southbound on the bypass and ran through the red light at Lebanon Road, witnesses told Danville police.

The big truck, owned by Crete Carrier Corp., collided with a Chevy pickup truck driven by Clifton Grubbs Jr. of Danville, who was traveling east through the intersection on Lebanon Road, and then careened into the northbound lanes. The tractor-trailer sideswiped a Ford pickup truck driven by Sabe Ruggles, 18, of Danville before the weight of the load shifted, causing the trailer to overturn on top of Howard’s vehicle, police said.

Grubbs was transported from the scene by ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of possible back and neck injuries, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The cab of the big truck ran through a guardrail on the right side of the northbound lanes before turning over on its side, leaving the trailer sprawled across three lanes of traffic. The intersection was finally cleared about 11 p.m., eight hours after the crash occurred, police said.

Because the trailer was damaged in the crash, it had to be partially unloaded before it could be brought upright, Danville Police Chief Tony Gray said.

The paper products, which had just been picked up at Wausau in Harrodsburg, were off-loaded onto pallets by hand and then reloaded on to another trailer using a forklift, Danville police Capt. James Monroe said.

Roberts Towing of Lexington brought two oversized wreckers to the scene in order to winch the big rig back on its wheels, Gray said. A tanker truck also was deployed to drain the diesel fuel from the overturned truck before it was set right, Monroe said.

Howard said she had been running errands and was on her way to pick up her daughter at Woodlawn Elementary School when the big truck flashed across her path as she was easing up to the stop light.

“It all happened so fast. The trailer just came in on me,” she said.

The top of the trailer smashed in the cab of Howard’s SUV, but she sustained no injuries and was able to unbuckle her seat belt and climb out through a back door, she said.

Several people at the scene speculated what might have happened to Howard if she had traveled another foot or two before the trailer toppled over on to her vehicle.

“It’s one of those things where you just go ‘Wow!’” said Danville Fire Chief Woody Ball. “Her guardian angel was flying with her, I suppose.”"

Teen dies after collision with pickup in Kennewick.

"Kennewick — A teenage motorcyclist who reportedly missed a stop sign has died after slamming into a pickup truck about 4:15 p.m. today at the intersection of 45th Avenue and Olympia Street in Kennewick.

Witnesses reported the motorcyclist was heading west on 45th and doing wheelies, according to Kennewick police Sgt. Mike Genack.

The 17-year-old Kennewick boy drove around another car stopped at the stop sign at 45th and then into a late-model Ford pickup truck driving north on Olympia, Genack said.

Witnesses performed CPR until Kennewick paramedics arrived. The teen died at Kennewick General Hospital.

The driver of the pickup lives near the intersection and was on his way home after day of fishing. He was towing a drift boat.

The intersection is still closed for the investigation. The names of the drivers have not been released."

Elyria Teen Killed In Crash.

"The Ohio State Highway Patrol says that Jake P. Nolan, 18 of Elyria, was the driver of the Ford F-150 that crashed into the woods on Gore Orphanage Road late last night.

In a media release the State Patrol says that Nolan was southbound on Gore Orphanage when he “failed to negotiate a curve” around 12:30am. The truck then struck a guard rail and a tree before coming to rest deep in the woods. Nolan was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from the truck. Nolan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Drug and alcohol use is unknown at this time. The State Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.

During a conversation with TMC NEWS late last night at the scene, Lt. Peterson from the State Patrol said that counting this crash the number of fatal crashes for Lorain County this year is 10, there were 27 total in 2006. “This is actually our 4th fatal crash up here in Vermilion, Henrietta Township so we are going to start a Problem Behavior Identification Zone; we’re going to start working a little more diligently in this northern corner.” Last year the State Patrol did the same program in the southern portion of the county after there were 14 fatal crashes in that area. To this point there has only been one fatal cash in the southern townships this year and that was involving the farm tractor.

Peterson said that in all 4 fatal crashes in the northern area involved “aggressive driving”. “In other words there was excessive speed involved, alcohol involved and these are the kinds of things that if we’re up here and we can maybe stop them through educational things, engineering things. It’s like this crash, is there anything we can do to make this a safer curve, maybe bring the county garage out and look at their signs to see if there is anything they can do with that.”

Stop signs or not Lt. Peterson said it always comes back to the driver. “It always comes down to the driver, driving within reasonable means that he can always stop whatever the situation might be.”  "

"IT SOUNDED LIKE A BOMB GOING OFF

Those are the words of the Ashland Ave home in Lorain after a truck rammed into the side of their house Monday afternoon.

Luther Saylor was in the house watching TV at the time of the crash. “I was in my parents room watching TV and I heard screeching tires and normally you don’t hear anything after that but this time I heard a loud crashing noise.”

Saylor and his mother went outside to see what had happened when they saw the truck buried in their garage. The driver was still sitting in the truck but trying to get out. Mrs. Saylor said that from previous personal experience and from watching TV she knew that him moving around was not a good idea so she talked to him and told him to stay inside until help arrived. Lorain Firefighters and LifeCare Ambulance Paramedics arrived a short time later to render care to the driver. The man was later taken to Community Health Partners for further treatment. The Saylor’s said that he seemed groggy but no visible signs of injuries."

"KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- A Chiloquin man was pronounced dead after he crashed his truck into a concrete barrier north of Klamath Falls Thursday.
56-year-old Gerald Leroy Day was driving his Ford pickup south on Highway 97 Thursday morning. At around  9 a.m. Day veered the truck across the northbound lane, off of the road's shoulder and into a ditch. The pickup crashed head-on into a concrete barrier about two miles north of Klamath Falls.
A medical emergency is suspected to be the cause of the single-vehicle crash. Day was pronounced dead at the scene, it is unclear what the cause of death was.
The crash caused some traffic congestion near milepost 270 while crews worked to clear the scene."

Traffic was tied up for 45 minutes while the the scene was cleared and Hyannis Rescue transported 1 person from the scene to CCH.

3 in same family killed in White County car crash.

"WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A deadly crash happened Friday afternoon along a stretch of road that has seen multiple wrecks in recent weeks.
White County officials said the three people who died were riding in the same car and members of the same family.  Two other children in the back seat were seriously injured.
It happened around 3:50 p.m. on the curve where U.S. 24 meets County Road 50 South, about a mile and a half east of Reynolds.             
Sheriff Patrick Shafer said a white car going east crossed the center line for an unknown reason and side- swiped a brown pickup truck driving in the opposite direction.  The brown pickup ended up in the ditch and the white car then hit a second pickup truck.
"The white car continued eastbound and striking the red pickup truck which was traveling westbound.  Those two vehicles then struck head-on,” Shafer said.
Shafer said two adults and a child in the white car were killed.  Two small children were taken to Franciscan St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette and then were airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis in critical condition.
The pickup truck drivers and a passenger in the brown pickup were fine. No names are being released at this time..         
Authorities said there have been three crashes along that stretch of road in the last month or two.           
The crash remains under investigation."

"SAN DIEGO — A 63-year-old suspected drunken driver and his 41-year-old female passenger were injured early Friday when the truck they were in slammed into a wall in Pacific Beach.

The crash on Ingraham Street near Crown Point Drive was reported at 4:50 a.m., San Diego police said.

The Ford F-150 hit the wall at a high speed and both occupants had to extricated by firefighters, police said.

The pair were hospitalized and are expected to survive. The woman suffered serious leg injuries.

Ingraham was shut down between Buena Vista Street and West Mission Bay Drive and was reopened about 10 a.m., police said.

A traffic alert has been issued."

Wrong-way driver triggers fatal pileup on Dallas freeway .

"DALLAS — One person was killed and Stemmons Freeway was shut down in Northwest Dallas Sunday morning in the wake of a four-car pileup that officials said was caused by a wrong-way driver.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35E at Commonwealth Drive.
A statement from Texas Department of Transportation spokesman Mark Pettit said at least three other vehicles were involved in the crash triggered by the wrong-way driver.
Dallas Fire-Rescue firefighters and paramedics faced a challenge to free several motorists from the twisted wreckage.
The Dallas County Sheriff's Department said one woman was killed in the crash, but there were no other serious injuries. No names were released, and no information about the status of the wrong-way driver was available.
Pettit said all five northbound lanes of I-35E were shut down for more than three hours as the debris was cleared and spilled fuel was mopped up.
An investigation into the cause of the accident was under way."

"IRVINE – A man was killed when his pickup crashed into a pole Wednesday night, authorities said.
Details on how the crash occurred were not immediately available, but authorities said it was reported at about 10:20 p.m. at Von Karman and Anchor.
The Ford F150 pickup appeared to have crashed into a light pole. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, said Lt. Julia Engen of the Irvine Police Department.
The driver was the vehicle was identified by coroner's officials as (Censored), a 51-year-old man from Capistrano Beach. He was pronounced dead at 10:22 p.m.
Officers with the Irvine Police Department were on scene within a minute, but found him dead, Engen said.
The crash is still under investigation."

"(Updated 9:15 a.m.) Two people were critically injured in a crash involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck Saturday morning in Molino.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 18-year old Tyler Fox of Pensacola was eastbound on Barrineau Park Road in a 1997 Ford F150 when he attempted to cross Highway 29 and pulled into the path of 2009 semi-truck driven by Kenny Lamont Moore, 37, of Florence, Ala. The 18-wheeler broadsided the pickup before jackknifing across the southbound lanes of Highway 29
Tyler and his 17-year old passenger, Destiny Trantham of Pensacola Beach, were ejected in the 6:55 a.m. crash as their truck came to rest in the median. Both, according to the FHP, were airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola in critical condition. Moore was transported to West Florida Hospital with minor injuries.
The Molino Station of Escambia Fire Rescue and Escambia County EMS also responded to the crash."

"Two people were injured in a three vehicle crash on Highway 97 south of Tungoil Road Friday night.
According to witnesses, an elderly male driving a van apparently collided with a pickup and another van just after 9 p.m. He was not injured.
The pickup flipped at least once, hitting a tree and landing off roadway. A female passenger in the pickup was transported by ambulance to West Florida Hospital in Pensacola. The driver of the pickup was not injured.
The driver of the second van was transported by ambulance to Atmore Community Hospital. None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening.
Further details were not available Friday night; the accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. The Walnut Hill Station of Escambia Fire Rescue and Atmore Ambulance also responded to the call."

Multi-Injury Traffic Crash Involving School Bus – Highway 101 in Warrenton Area.

"Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Monday afternoon’s multi-injury traffic crash involving a Warrenton School District bus and a pickup at the intersection of Highway 101 and Perkins Road.

According to OSP Senior Trooper James Pierce, preliminary information indicates on September 12, 2011 at approximately 3:55 p.m. a Warrenton School District bus driven by Sabrina J. Rainey, age 33, from Astoria, was stopped on Perkins Road waiting to cross Highway 101. Rainey started across the highway and was struck in the passenger side by a southbound 2001 Ford F150 pickup driven by John N. Cook, age 64, from Gearhart.
Six student passengers were identified as being transported to different hospitals for treatment:

• * age 6, transported by Medix ambulance to Seaside Providence Hospital with minor injuries.
• * age 9, transported by ambulance to Seaside Providence Hospital with minor injuries.
• * age 16, transported by ambulance to Seaside Providence Hospital with minor injuries.
• * age 16, transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital then transferred to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries.
• * age 11, transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
• * age 13, transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

A seventh student, age 14, was reportedly picked up at the scene by her parent with no confirmed injury.
Cook was transported by ambulance to Columbia Memorial Hospital then to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with serious injuries.
All occupants in both vehicles were using safety restraints. The pickup’s airbags deployed.
OSP troopers from the Astoria Area Command office are continuing the investigation. No enforcement action has been taken. No other information to be released at this time.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Warrenton Police Department, Warrenton Fire Department, Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office, Medix Ambulance, ODOT and Warrenton School District officials.
