"LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Emergency crews were called to the eastbound lanes of the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265/KY 841) after a crash involving a semi tractor-trailer and a car near the approach to Interstate 65.
According to MetroSafe Dispatch, the accident was reported at 9:54 a.m. From Air 3, it appeared the car was run over and crushed by the semi. Debris from the wrecked vehicle could be seen in front of and on the driver side of the semi rig.
One person injured in the wreck was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital. There has been no word on their condition.
The eastbound lanes of the Snyder were blocked while emergency crews worked at the accident scene. Louisville Metro Police are diverting traffic from the eastbound Snyder onto National Turnpike. Traffic caught behind the accident scene was allowed to exit the Snyder and get onto I-65. The westbound fast lane traffic on the Snyder was also affected by emergency equipment.
The eastbound Snyder was reopened to traffic around 3:30 p.m."

Police say around 8 a.m., two cars collided when one of them ran a red light.

One of the drivers was taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the cars hit a traffic light pole and knocked it down.

First Street near Chestnut Street was closed for hours.

Truck crashes into waiting room at Danville doctor's office.

"BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A close call for some patients at a Danville doctor's office after a truck slammed into a crowded waiting room.
It happened around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the Ephraim McDowell Heart and Vascular Institute on Ben Ali Drive.
A firefighter with the Danville fire department tells us A woman driving the truck crashed into a column in the front of the building, then put the pick-up in reverse and slammed into the waiting room.
Danville police identify the driver as 73-year-old Thelma Richardson of Junction City.
The fire department says she was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Officials with Ephraim McDowell say it might have been a good thing she hit the front of the building first because it got people away from the waiting room. "Well, yeah, it got everybody out of the way. If there hadn't been some means of distracting the people, then, yeah, there could have been some people seriously Hurt," said Keith Bridges with Ephraim McDowell Health
Two people inside the waiting room were treated for scratches and bruises.
The building was determined to be structurally safe and remains open for business.
Maintenance crews with Ephraim McDowell have already began repairing the damage."

Man suffers 'severe' injuries in Nicholasville wreck on US 27.

"The driver of a Honda CRV was transported to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center with what police called “severe injuries” after his vehicle collided with a white truck on U.S. 27 in Nicholasville on Friday morning. The man’s name has not been released.

The CRV was traveling south on U.S. 27 between Howard and Elizabeth streets around 7:50 a.m. when it crossed into northbound lanes and struck a white Ford work truck, according to Nicholasville police Sgt. Jason Porch.
The vehicles came to rest about 80 yards apart.
“One of the witnesses who was sitting beside one of the two cars said, ‘Out of the blue, I just saw the impact. I can’t believe what I just saw,’” Nicholasville police officer Kevin Grimes said. “And, really, look at the debris field. You figure 55 or 60 mph came together and it was 120 mph.”
Grimes said it was unclear why the CRV crossed into the northbound lanes.
“We don’t know why, but it came into (the northbound lane) of traffic, and you see the point of impact,” Grimes said. “The injuries (for the CRV driver) do seem to be pretty severe. The other guy was standing around talking.
“The latest from (The University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center) was the (CRV driver) was still conscious upon arrival at the hospital’s emergency room, and that’s all we know at this point.”
The driver of the truck was not injured; Nicholasville firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extract the driver of the CRV from his vehicle before Jessamine County EMS transported him to the hospital.
Northbound and southbound traffic was rerouted around Howard and Elizabeth streets while emergency crews worked the scene.
The NPD’s accident-reconstruction unit is on the scene investigating, and as of 9:30 a.m., officials expected that stretch of U.S. 27 to remain closed for several more hours.
It’s going to be a while, and it could possibly take more than three hours,” Porch said."

Car crashes into utility pole on Ky. 52 in Boyle.

"Ky. 52 east of Danville was temporarily shut down Tuesday afternoon after a woman crashed her car into a utility pole.

Boyle County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to discover the woman had lost control of the car while going around a curve.

Police said the wet highway played a factor in the accident.

The woman was not injured and refused transportation to the hospital.

Police said the utility pole was damaged, and the highway was closed while cleanup took place.
The crash is being investigated by Deputy Taylor Bottom."

Woman survives horrific crash in Danville.

"A Danville woman narrowly escaped serious injury Tuesday afternoon when a tractor-trailer rig loaded with toilet paper and paper towels overturned on top of her SUV as she was preparing to stop for a red light at the intersection of the Danville bypass and Lebanon Road.

“I can’t believe my head is not crushed,” Wendy Howard, 39, said at the scene as she looked at her GMC Envoy with the front of its cab caved in by the trailer, which was carrying a payload of about 45,000 pounds.

The crash occurred about 3 p.m., when the big rig, driven by Adolfo Penny of Clinton, Md., was southbound on the bypass and ran through the red light at Lebanon Road, witnesses told Danville police.

The big truck, owned by Crete Carrier Corp., collided with a Chevy pickup truck driven by Clifton Grubbs Jr. of Danville, who was traveling east through the intersection on Lebanon Road, and then careened into the northbound lanes. The tractor-trailer sideswiped a Ford pickup truck driven by Sabe Ruggles, 18, of Danville before the weight of the load shifted, causing the trailer to overturn on top of Howard’s vehicle, police said.

Grubbs was transported from the scene by ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of possible back and neck injuries, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The cab of the big truck ran through a guardrail on the right side of the northbound lanes before turning over on its side, leaving the trailer sprawled across three lanes of traffic. The intersection was finally cleared about 11 p.m., eight hours after the crash occurred, police said.

Because the trailer was damaged in the crash, it had to be partially unloaded before it could be brought upright, Danville Police Chief Tony Gray said.

The paper products, which had just been picked up at Wausau in Harrodsburg, were off-loaded onto pallets by hand and then reloaded on to another trailer using a forklift, Danville police Capt. James Monroe said.

Roberts Towing of Lexington brought two oversized wreckers to the scene in order to winch the big rig back on its wheels, Gray said. A tanker truck also was deployed to drain the diesel fuel from the overturned truck before it was set right, Monroe said.

Howard said she had been running errands and was on her way to pick up her daughter at Woodlawn Elementary School when the big truck flashed across her path as she was easing up to the stop light.

“It all happened so fast. The trailer just came in on me,” she said.

The top of the trailer smashed in the cab of Howard’s SUV, but she sustained no injuries and was able to unbuckle her seat belt and climb out through a back door, she said.

Several people at the scene speculated what might have happened to Howard if she had traveled another foot or two before the trailer toppled over on to her vehicle.

“It’s one of those things where you just go ‘Wow!’” said Danville Fire Chief Woody Ball. “Her guardian angel was flying with her, I suppose.”"

Patient dies after ambulance is hit by SUV, overturns.

"GLENCOE, Ky. - A patient who was being taken to an area clinic for medical treatment died Tuesday after the ambulance he was riding in was struck by another vehicle and overturned in Northern Kentucky.
Two members of the Gallatin County Fire Department were transporting (censored), 59, of Dry Ridge, when an SUV struck the ambulance on U.S. 127 near Tapering Pointe Road in Glencoe just before 10 a.m.
Police say the SUV, driven by Hunter LeGrand, 22, of Warsaw, struck a pole and a mailbox before crossing the center line and colliding with the ambulance head-on.
The ambulance overturned and landed on its roof.
Little was flown to University Hospital by a medical helicopter where he died from his injuries. An EMT who was in the back of the ambulance with Little, David Waltz, 25, of Carrollton, was also flown to University Hospital by a medical helicopter.
The driver of the ambulance, Justin Shields, 21, of Ghent, was transported by another ambulance to University Hospital.
LeGrand had to be extricated from his vehicle before he was flown to University Hospital by a medical helicopter. Police believe he was under the influence of drugs when the accident occurred.
The conditions of the other victims have not been released.
Charges against LeGrand are pending.
The crash remains under investigation."

"LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A car ended up pinned under a semi-trailer after a crash at 15th and Broadway.  It happened just after 9:00 Thursday morning.
The top of the car was completely smashed under the semi, and shattered glass was everywhere.
Firefighters rescued the car's driver, who was taken to University Hospital.  Metro Safe says she is expected to survive.
There's no word on whether the semi driver was also injured."

Passenger dies in collision on Liberty Road.

"One person died and another suffered possible life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash Monday evening on Liberty Road that might have involved alcohol, Lexington police said.
The driver of a green Chevrolet Blazer headed west on Liberty Road lost control near a curve on Appletree Lane and crossed over the center line and into the path of an eastbound, silver Ford Escape, Lexington police Lt. Chris Van Brackel said. The Escape hit the passenger side of the Blazer about 6 p.m., he said.
A male passenger in the back seat was thrown into the very back of the Blazer, van Brackel said.
(Name) 54, of Lexington was pronounced dead at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital at 6:41 p.m., according to a news release from the Fayette County coroner's office.
A female passenger in the Blazer's front seat was partially thrown out the driver's side door and was taken to UK with possible life-threatening injuries, Van Brackel said.
The two drivers also were taken to UK but did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, Van Brackel said.
Alcohol use by the driver of the Blazer is suspected, he said.
"I don't know if he was too fast for conditions or what caused him to lose control," Van Brackel said.
It appeared that no one in the Blazer was wearing a seat belt, he said, but the driver of the Escape, a 17-year-old boy, was wearing a seat belt.
The identities of those involved in the crash were not immediately available.
Several people in the neighborhood heard the collision and came out to help, Van Brackel said.
An accident reconstruction unit was called to the scene, and Liberty Road was shut down between Henry Clay Boulevard and Appletree for about five hours, he said.
Matthew Nichols, a Liberty Road resident, said the area has a high-volume of traffic.
"This is not the first time this has happened," he said. "It's supposed to be 35 mph through here ... but some people travel 55 through here.""

Crash with trooper kills 1.

"A Kentucky State Police trooper was involved Thursday in a two-car, head-on collision near Park City that killed the driver of the other car.

KSP Trooper (Name), the public affairs officer for state police Post 3 in Bowling Green, was driving southbound in a caravan with other troopers just before 4 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 31-W north of Park City when his state police cruiser, a Ford Crown Victoria, crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Ford Mustang driven by (Name) 33, of Riverside, N.J., according to Lt. David Jude of KSP media relations in Frankfort.

Ceylan was flown from the scene to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, where she was pronounced dead. Her passenger, Samuel H. Parker, 54, of Willingboro, N.J., was treated at the scene. Both Ceylan and Parker have been residing in Greensburg, according to the KSP.

Biven was taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was released Thursday night and has minor facial injuries, Jude said.

Biven was on duty when the collision occurred and was traveling with a caravan of troopers from a firing range, Jude said.

Accident reconstructionists with the KSP are investigating the crash and are trying to determine exactly what happened. They are reviewing a crash data recorder installed in the cruiser.

“It’s a big puzzle, if you will,” Jude said.

Speed does not appear to be a factor, Jude said. Also, alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors, according to the news release.

It is too early to determine exactly what caused Biven to cross the center line, Jude said.

“We do know that Trooper Biven did cross the center line, and the collision occurred from there,” he said. “As far as assigning what has happened or what caused that just yet, it’s way too early to do that.”

There is no policy mandating administrative leave if a trooper is involved in an accident. Any leave will be based on his medical needs, Jude said.

Also responding to the scene were the Park City Fire Department and the Barren County Sheriff’s Office."
