"On 10.15.2012 at 1609 hours the Northern York County Regional Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Starview Road and Liverpool Turnpike in Manchester Township.
Investigation found that a 1997 Subaru operated by Jenneifer Reed age 30 of Lewisberry failed to negotiate a left hand curve on Starview Road.  The Reed vehicle travelled off of the roadway, struck a stump, and overturned coming to rest on an embankment.  The vehicle was resting against a tree.
The Manchester Township Department of Fire Services had to extricate Reed and her two young sons from the vehicle.  All were transported to York Hospital for minor injuries."

Man dies in one-car accident on Highway 349.

"One man died Thursday night from injuries sustained from a one-car accident on State Highway 349.

According to Midland police, the cause of the eighth vehicle fatality in Midland this year is currently unknown. Special Operations Lt. Ray Leible said he does not believe speeding or alcohol was involved in the crash.
At 6:20 p.m., Midland police responded to the accident at the 6400 block of Highway 349, where Donald Gene Rowan, 61, was found to be deceased at the scene. Rowan was driving south on Highway 349 when he lost control of his car and struck a pipe fence, causing his 2001 Chevrolet Blazer to roll over one time, according to police. Rowan was wearing his safety belt, according to a press release by Ryan Stout, interim public information officer for the city.
Helicopters were on the scene taking aerial photographs of the accident.
“It’s sad,” Leible said. “Any fatality is one too many.”
Kendall Ross, a truck driver at the scene of the accident, said he saw a large cloud of dust after the crash occurred. When the dust settled, Ross said he could see the driver was not moving.
The accident investigation is ongoing and the next of kin have been notified, officials said."

Woman sent to hospital, dog taken to vet after SUV flips over in Readington crash.

"READINGTON — A two-vehicle crash in which an SUV flipped over then righted itself resulted in a Neshanic woman, Carol Chamberlain, being taken to the hospital and her dog, a passenger in the SUV, to the veterinarian.
An emergency radio broadcast heard at 10:05 a.m. today, Oct. 16, indicated that the accident took place at the intersection of Summer Road and Old York Road in Readington, not far from the Wawa convenience store on Route 202. The crossroad, which is a four-way stop, has been the site of several recent accidents.

At the crash scene this morning, Carol Chamberlain's husband said his wife was driving her Mazda SUV with her dog, a Briard breed, in a traveling crate when the SUV collided with a 1991 Lincoln Town Car. The Town Car was driven by Oswaldo Montes of Maine, who did not seem to be injured when he talked to a reporter at the scene.
The SUV, police said, rolled over at least once and came to a stop upright.
Chamberlain was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries, and her dog was taken to a veterinarian by her husband to be examined."

Head-On Collision Kills Three Tulsans In Rogers County.

Three Tulsa men are dead after a car was struck head-on by a sport utility vehicle at 46th Street North and 145th East Avenue in Rogers County.

According to authorities on the scene, a man in a Chevrolet Tahoe attempted to pass a semi in a no-passing zone, striking and killing two men in a Chevrolet Malibu, about 4 p.m. on Thursday.
The man driving the SUV was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the driver of the Tahoe as Owen McCool, 29, from Tulsa.
OHP identified the driver of the Malibu as Clifford Colyer, 21, and his passenger as Garold Benner, 23. Both men were from Tulsa.
All three men were pinned in their vehicles and had to be extracted by the Tulsa Fire Department, using the Jaws of Life."

Running Out Of Gas Leads To Tulsa Injury Wreck.

Two people were hurt when a van ran out of gas on a Tulsa highway. One of the injured was standing in the road trying to flag down help.

A man and woman in a mini van were stopped on Highway 412 just west of downtown at about 11:40 Friday night. The man was standing in the roadway trying to flag down another driver when he was struck by a woman driving a Chevrolet HHR.
Seconds later, a third car hit the Chevy.
The male pedestrian was alert and talking when transported to a local hospital. The woman driving the HHR complained of pain and was also taken to a hospital.
Two young girls were riding with the man and woman in the third car. The children, believed to be 1 and 3 years old, were checked out by emergency responders but were not taken to the hospital.
Authorities at the scene said there was no alcohol involved in the pile-up, and they weren't planning to issue any citations at that point in the investigation."

Tulsa Woman Killed In Rollover Wreck.

A Tulsa woman is dead following a single-car rollover wreck Saturday night. Troopers found the car while patrolling the area, authorities told News On 6.

Teresa Ann Benjamin was driving a 1998 Chevy S-10 pickup eastbound on Interstate 244 at 10:45 p.m. October 6 when she exited onto Yale Avenue, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jamie Guinn.
"The accident's still under investigation, but it looks like the driver was attempting to exit off of I-244 eastbound onto Yale, made a late exit, hit the grass median, struck a sign and appeared to begin to roll, then hit the pole," Trooper Guinn told News On 6.
The pickup rolled one and 3/4s times before striking the light pole. Teresa Benjamin, 53, was pinned in the pickup for about an hour and 15 minutes, according to a collision report. She was pronounced dead at the scene from head injuries.
Passenger Linda Lou Benjamin, 59, was taken to a local hospital with internal injuries where she is stable, the report states. Another passenger, Tiawana Maria Smith, 45, was treated at the scene for neck injuries.
The condition of the driver at the time of the wreck and the cause of the accident are still under investigation."

Woman Wrecks At Duck Creek Bridge Near Glenpool.

"GLENPOOL, Oklahoma -

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and other agencies responded to an injury collision Saturday morning on Highway 75.

The rollover wreck took place just before 8 a.m. at the Duck Creek Bridge near 201st Street.
Authorities at the scene told News On 6 that the a woman driving a Chevrolet HHR may have fallen asleep behind the wheel. Marsha Sloan of Mounds was northbound on the highway when the car ran off the side of the road, striking a guardrail.
The car rode the guardrail then went down the rocks on the south side of Duck Creek, through the water then came to rest on the rocky north of the creek. It rolled an unknown number of times, according to a state trooper's report.
She was freed from the car by Glenpool Fire Department and flown to a Tulsa hospital. Glenpool police assisted troopers at the scene.
Sloan, 50, is in a Tulsa hospital where she is stable with arm, leg, head and other injuries, according to a trooper's report."

Indiana Toll Road worker, driver killed in I-90 crash in LaPorte County.

"Two people were killed, including an Indiana Toll Road maintenance worker, after a crash this morning on I-90 in LaPorte County, Ind., officials said.

In addition to the fatal injuries, another toll road worker was injured in the crash that happened at about 11:30 a.m. at mile marker 39.8 just east of the Michigan City exit, according to Indiana State Police officials.

Police dispatchers had received a call about a speeding, erratic driver traveling west on the roadway and was in the process of dispatching the information to police when the same vehicle, a red 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, struck the rear of a maintenance pickup truck, officials said.
The pickup truck was parked on the inner shoulder of the westbound lanes with its lights and a lit arrow board activated on the truck, police said. There was a sign behind the pickup warning drivers of workers up ahead, police said.
Daniel J. Miller, 52, of LaPorte who had just been a passenger in the truck, had stepped out and walked behind the truck to retrieve trimming equipment from the truck bed when the Hyundai struck him and the rear of the pickup, according to police.
Miller was pronounced dead by the LaPorte County Coroner. He had worked for the toll road for 17 years, officials said.
Paul A. Kimbrugh, 78 of Coldwater, Mich. and Cape Coral, Fla. who was the driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead after being airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
The second maintenance worker who was in the pickup was taken to Saint Anthony's Hospital in Michigan City with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The westbound lanes of the toll road were closed for about two hours."

Deputies in Miami County said a man is dead after an early-morning crash Tuesday in the 2600 block of Troy-Urbana Road northeast of Troy.

Deputies said the car went out of control for several hundred feet, hit some trees and then flipped several times. The driver was ejected on impact, deputies said.

The victim has been  identified as (censored), 21, of Troy. He was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

The crash remains under investigation."

Wind gust snaps tree, smashes truck with kids inside.

"GLADSTONE, Ore. - A dad and three kids escaped injury when a tree fell on a truck on Highway 99E Friday afternoon.
It happened at the south end of the bridge that goes over the Clackamas River between Gladstone and Oregon City.

Troy Portash told KATU that a cottonwood tree simply snapped and fell on his windshield, crushing part of his Ford pickup truck.
Three kids in the back were all strapped in car seats and were safe. Portash said he was fine, too.
The tree also hit the windshield of a Pontiac, state troopers said. The driver of that car and her passenger also were not injured.
The tree's trunk was as wide as two feet in places, troopers said. The road was blocked for about an hour until crews could clear the tree.
High winds around Western Oregon caused trees and power lines to fall, sparking several fires."

NJ Turnpike lanes reopened after fatal crash, but major traffic delays remain.

"ROBBINSVILLE — The New Jersey Turnpike has reopened all lanes northbound and one lane southbound following a fatal dump truck crash and fire this morning near exit 7A in Mercer County.
Eastbound I-195 has also been reopened, but westbound lanes remain closed to through traffic, said Tim Greeley a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation. Drivers going westbound on I-195 are able to enter the Turnpike southbound at the 7A interchange.
The dump truck driver was killed in the fiery 9:53 a.m. crash when the truck veered into a barrier on the road and slid on the side of the truck beneath the I-195 overpass on the NJ Turnpike's southbound lanes, authorities said.
State Police Sgt. Brian Polite said this afternoon that the victim is believed to be a 49-year-old Belleville man. Police would not release the name of the victim. Polite said police are awaiting further medical examination to verify the man’s identity.
Greeley asked drivers to seek alternate routes while traffic clears in the area. Greeley said traffic on local roads that are being used as detours will be more congested than usual. He encouraged drivers to call 511 from cell phones or check 511nj.org for traffic updates.
The NJ Turnpike and I-195 were closed in both directions for more than five hours as firefighters extinguished the blaze, which spread to the I-195 overpass bridge.
The Department of Transportation and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority conducted an assessment of the overpass and determined that it was safe for motorists this afternoon, Greeley said.
The truck was driving in the center southbound lane of the Turnpike when it veered into the barrier, Grossman said. The cause of the crash was not available. There is ongoing construction in the area of the crash as part of a Turnpike widening project and a realignment of the I-195 overpass.
NJ Transit is letting customers use their bus passes to board trains on the North Jersey Coast Line and Northeast Corridor Line to help avoid Turnpike delays."

Police officer suffers minor injuries in downtown crash.

Part of Fifth Street downtown was closed Friday morning after a crash involving a Cincinnati police officer.

The crash happened at about 11 a.m. near the intersection of Fifth Street and Central Avenue.
The officer called in the crash on his radio. He was taken to University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. His name has not been released.
Images from the scene show a Cincinnati police motorcycle on the ground with papers scattered under it. A nearby SUV has damage to its front passenger door.
Investigators said it appeared that the SUV turned in front of the officer's motorcycle.
The road was reopened just before 11:45 a.m. The crash remains under investigation."

Driver rattled, bruised after vehicle flips into Cuyahoga River.

"Robert Bugge took a drive into the Cuyahoga River that few could walk away from.
And for a while Tuesday, Akron rescue workers and dozens of onlookers feared he didn’t.
But lo and behold, Bugge, all bruised and battered, returned to the scene of the crash about 12 hours later to tell police what happened as he drove through the Merriman Valley on Portage Path and wound up in the river.
“I’ve never been so close to death before,” Bugge said.
The Akron man said he was driving home about 1 a.m. Tuesday following an after-work dinner when a deer appeared on North Portage Path, just before the bridge over the river.
Bugge, 50, said he swerved his Pontiac sedan to avoid the deer and rode up an inclined, 4-foot-high concrete bridge barrier. His car then slipped through a 10-foot gap between the east and west bridge lanes and skidded down an embankment into the water.
“I came up, and boom, down between the two [barriers],” he said.
His car landed on its top, temporarily trapping Bugge inside and underwater. He managed to free himself and then, dazed and confused, continued his journey home by foot.
“I don’t know how I got out of my car,” Bugge said.
During and after the 2-mile walk, he did not call police to report the crash. He suffered severe head and eye bruises and a small cut on his leg.
“My only thought was to get home where I was safe,” he said.
Police only learned of the crash after receiving a call from a Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail walker who spotted Bugge’s car about 11:30 a.m. Akron firefighters spent considerable time searching the river and Bugge’s car to ensure no one was inside.
Eventually, police contacted Bugge at his home, and he came to the scene.
Bugge, who was arrested in 2010 for drunken driving, denied having any alcohol prior to the crash.
“No sir, I did not,” he told reporters.
Akron police Lt. Rick Edwards said Bugge was fortunate to survive the crash. He also said police cannot prove alcohol was involved due to the passage in time. Instead, Bugge will be charged with failure to control his vehicle.
The crash reminded some of the July 5 death of Christopher Burgess, 41, whose dump truck crashed into the Cuyahoga River after careening out of control while descending Portage Trail Extension. An inspection found the truck Burgess was driving had poorly functioning brakes.
“I’m lucky to be alive,” Bugge said. “Really lucky to be alive.”"
